Why Train at Urban Strength Institute?

Over 20+ Years Experience in the Industry learning from the best and applying the science to produce results.

Before I joined, I was underweight and frustrated with the little to no progress I was making from working out at other gyms. Although I had no problem dragging myself to the gym, trying to guess what to do and when to increase difficulty/weight just made it confusing, ineffective, and boring. Ultimately, I would default to group classes that never seemed tailored to my own goals and fitness level.

I followed his advice and in only 4-5 months the results are undeniable: I am unrecognizable in pictures (in a good way) having gained 30lbs of muscle; I am objectively much stronger (Chris writes down every session so you can see and compare your own progress); and I went from doing 0 to 8+ consecutive pull-ups, which was a BIG goal of mine.

Livia Cook - USMC Officer

Chris Grayson is by far the most knowledgeable professional in this field that I have ever crossed paths with.  Chris has been educating me with training advice for over a decade, and he played an important part of my recovery process from knee surgery earlier this year. Chris is an encyclopedia of my countless questions and he is full of answers based on empirical evidence. If you’re in the Chicagoland area be sure to check out USI.

Chris Pinto - Jiu Jitsu black belt and State Trooper

It is neither. This is semi-private training where anywhere from 1-3 people could be training at the same time but all training programs are individually based. Your workout routines are designed based off of your goals and what you’re qualified to do (based on a thorough assessment conducted).

We provide as much guidance as possible because we know this a critical aspect for getting results. We initiate the process with a detailed General Health Questionnaire along with an assessment of your current nutritional habits. From there we can determine where you need the most help and then establish a plan to make the appropriate changes as easy as possible.

Bring a water bottle and we’ll give you some electrolytes to drink while training to help you stay hydrated and replenish any minerals lost from exercise (Thorne Catalyte electrolyte product featured on the right).

We are by appointment only and work between the hours of 6am – 8pm Monday through Friday and 7am – 12pm on Saturdays. We are closed on Sunday. You can schedule an appointment on our BOOK APPOINTMENT page to get started. If you don’t see a time that works for you give us a call. 773-453-5936
